Anybody else assume based on TNG that Picard & Guinan had a friends with benefits situation? 🖖🏻

@KimberlyHirsh I kind of always figured that Guinean was too smart to put up with all of his baggage.

@petebrown This is why it's friends-with-benefits and I mean legitimately so, a choice: friendship is the type of affection he can offer, but they're attracted to each other.

@pimoore She says she's attracted to bald men. She asks somebody (I can't recall who) if they knew who she & Picard were to each other. They have clear affection for each other. She's been married before. He is afraid of having to choose between partner & duty. I'm just saying.

@KimberlyHirsh Picard was always married to his duty and his captaincy. So much so that Q showed him that he was missing out on exploring life in the TNG finale, and that’s what really matters. I also remember when he was captured by the Borg that Riker couldn’t accept having to move on. Guinan said something along the lines of:

“Our relationship goes beyond duty, beyond friendship, and I will let him go. I suggest you do the same.”

Clearly they had a very strong connection, intimate or not.
