I got a Rakuten Libra H2O and I am so excited about its OverDrive integration. So many public library books at my fingertips on a screen that’s not backlit and that I don’t have to sideload via Adobe Digital Editions!

@kimberlyhirsh oh wow! I thought I was done with ereaders, but Overdrive integration is a gamechanger!
@spgreenhalgh It really is. I'm about to read So Many Hugo Nominees.
@kimberlyhirsh I’d love to know what you think of it, when you’ve had a chance to use it. It could replace my aging Kindle.
@splinter I love it. It has a light inside that front-lights the screen and automatically reduces the blue light it emits as the day goes on. Getting books from the library is super easy. Great battery life. Haven't tried side loading or PDFs yet but so far highly recommend.
@kimberlyhirsh @splinter I am also looking for a replacement for my aging Kindle, and so this is good to hear. I’m curious, are you moving from the Kindle/Amazon ecosystem, or have you always used Kobo?
@crossingthethreshold I have a 10 year old Nook. A long time ago I used Calibre to consolidate all my ebooks but I haven't had success doing that with more recent Kindle ebooks.
@kimberlyhirsh Oh so you have used a number of different brands. I use Calibre to consolidate my books (I need to catch up on that). The plug-in to convert Kindle ebooks recently got an upgrade, which was necessitated by a change in how Calibre was written, I believe. It still misses the odd book, but I found that I can now convert even recent ones.
@kimberlyhirsh Awesome! I love my Kobo Aura One, got it a few years ago to replace a Kindle and still going strong. The Overdrive integration is great. I also like being able to borrow books on their Libby app and have them automatically show up on the Aura.
@crossingthethreshold That's good to hear. Maybe I'll try again because I've definitely gotten more Kindle books since the last time I consolidated them.
@alongtheray Yes - the convenience of finding the book in Libby and then having it show up on the eReader is great.
@kimberlyhirsh I wanted to move away from the Kindle dominance and was researching Kobo & OverDrive integration for UK customers. Sadly, Kobo with OverDrive is not available in the UK!
@kimberlyhirsh If you need the link to the new version of the plug-in that works with the current version of Calibre, just let me know.
