I’ve realized, with a certain amount of emotional pain, that a majority of pop-culture music and movie references that I pepper into work conversations are from the 20th century. Some Exceptions: Family Guy, Letterkenny/Shoresy, TikTok

@hjalm You are not alone. Jax regularly reminds me how often my ‘cultural references’ need to be updated to maintain my relevancy. Honey … I tell her … I was never ‘culturally relevant’ .. with my inner voice asking if ‘culturally’ is redundant.

@JohnPhilpin I feel this a lot. I’ve realized that although I’ve enjoyed amazing relationships and groups of friends and colleagues where I’ve been known and appreciated, I’ve probably never been cool. It’s okay. I can still make people laugh and despite my many quirks, some people like me and I’m okay with that.

@JohnPhilpin There was a 20th-Century band that said something about being “…through being cool…”

There is a quiet confidence that comes when you act on what you know and in alignment with who you are, regardless of how it may be perceived. May we all find those things.
