I note in passing on this early-morning start day, that The Monkees (or songwriter John Stewart) had to get up earlier than The Clash, pre-fame. ‘Ring, ring, it’s seven am’ vs ‘The six o’clock alarm would never ring.’

@devilgate Unclear as to whether the respective commutes of The Clash and The Monkees affected the rising hour … but it is clear to me that both were fully aware of the ‘rule of the man’ laid down by The Vogues and acted on accordingly.

Not familiar with The Vogues (though certainly The Pogues); unless you mean the various editions of the magazine?
