Welp, my kiddo broke the headphone jack off on my trusty Sony MDR-7506 headphones. I’ll attempt a repair, but now I’m in the market for new cans. Debating between Sennheiser HD 599, HD 58X Massdrop, AKG K7XX, and others. Any recommendations?

@cleverdevil your KIDS broke the wotsit so now you need to buy new super duper cans ... uh huh ... sure.
@cleverdevil OPPO PM3’s, if you can still get them. They are my favorites. They are planar magnetic, and thus have an incredibly fast response. Bass is not heavy, but is very precise.
@mjdescy they look and sound amazing, but they seem hard to find and quite expensive. Maybe too rich for my blood!
@cleverdevil I understand. They were not cheap—and are probably even more expensive now that Oppo decided to wind down its business. I only bought them because all my previous headphones broke. I would still be enjoying the much less expensive PSB M4U 1 if its headband didn’t break!
@cleverdevil Sennheiser HD 6XX. I like them a good deal more than my AKG K702 and Sony MDR-7506 headphones. Very comfortable, decent bass, and non fatiguing high end. And fix the Sony’s. I’ve had mine since 2000 and they are still great for what they are. I did have to replace the ear pads...
@tgray I’m leaning toward the HD 6XX. Problem is, it’s not currently available on Massdrop. I’ve ordered parts to repair the 7506, and they arrive tomorrow. I’ll have a working set of cans improved with a detachable cable to hold me over until the HD 6XX becomes available again.
@cleverdevil That sounds like a good plan. I will say that I haven't tried the 6XXs out without a headphone amp. The 7506s were easy to drive; I don't know about the 6XXs since my phone no longer has a headphone jack... Thanks Apple.
