@crossingthethreshold I know this dilemma well. I like Ulysses better but want the plain text files of iA writer.

@ChrisJWilson That expresses my feelings in a nutshell. I am currently back with iAWriter, but will see where things go. My subscription with Ulysses runs out in August, but the carrot is that I am on the discounted plan as an original user. 😫

@crossingthethreshold ah yes the subscription (I'm in the same boat). Ulysses also has epub export which I used to use as a teacher...but now pages has that 🤔 I really think I might go back to iA writer (even just to see what I miss).

@JohnPhilpin After just renewing Setapp while ago, I might as well go back to Ulysses

@JohnPhilpin I've never taken a look at Setapp. Maybe I should?

@crossingthethreshold DEFINITELY look at it ... i originally couldn’t decide between MindNode and iThoughts - BOTH are on SetApp

PLUS

I already used BusyCal, CleanMyMac, Gemini, Mats Edit, BarTender, Ulysses - so as those get updated or renewed - they will be in my SetApp

Since joining I have discovered and added Flume, Mosaic, uBar - each great little utilities in their own way,

Blogo and RapidWeaver, both of which I have used in the past - are also available.

and a raft more of stuff - some of which I have tried and bounced off again - but as things change - e.g. Diarly - a potential DayONE replacement - I tried - I liked - but so far missing the functionality - but developer and I exchanged emails and I can see where he is going.

@JohnPhilpin Is there a big back and forth with apps joining & leaving Setapp? I wonder what happens if an app leaves Setapp? Do you have to buy it, or is it yours?

@crossingthethreshold ... @danielpunkass will definitely know this for sure - but I would think if the app leaves SetApp you would either stop using it or buy / rent it from them directly.

If it goes away completely - no different than if any app goes away.

Check out Daniel and @Manton talking about SetApp on their Core Intuition podcast.

I think @rosemaryorchard also has insights into how the detail works.

@crossingthethreshold @JohnPhilpin This question came up late last year with iMazing. @jsnell covered it on Six Colours. Right now it looks like you can keep the most recent version available via Setapp so long as you keep it installed.

@JohnPhilpin I don't have the details at hand but I think it might be something like the user can keep using the last version that Setapp authorized?

@crossingthethreshold @JohnPhilpin 👍🏻 (though, really, they ought to improve their FAQ, knowledgebase, etc)
