@JohnPhilpin wondering if we have any mind mapping users in the community ... and what would be the ‘go tok apps these days. Particularly interested in ability to take a mind map and export it to a linear doc / opml format ... collaboration not essential.

@JohnPhilpin I use iThoughts. I tried Mindnode, but found iThoughts good enough for me. I’m not an avid mind-mapper, but it’s seen some use over the years.

@vanessa thank-you - not heard of them but at first rush looks very comprehensive … do you know if you can export the maps into something like OPML / XML ?

@JohnPhilpin It’s a good app. Looks like it will support the following export/share formats: Word, Powerpoint, pdf, img, zip, Markdown, xml, csv, various other mind mapping formats and, yes, OPML.

@JohnPhilpin I'm not a big mind mapper, but have owned Mindnode on OSX & iOS for many years and am very happy with it. For those times when I want to visually play around with my ideas, it had been a very helpful and easy to use tool.

@JohnPhilpin I was going to @-mention @rosemaryorchard because I remember her mentioning mind-mapping when I queried about something on her screen in a photo she posted long ago, but as it turns out, she just posted a bit about MindNode 6 this morning!

@smokey @johnphilpin I have just read that. I can’t quite recall why I stopped using Mindnode - just because I was more familiar with iThoughts, I think. Also I have discovered Setapp, thanks to @rosemaryorchard which seems to have a lot of decent apps in it (including both Mindmap apps). Hmmm...

@vanessa so I see ithoughts in set app ... but not mind node ... am I missing the wood for the trees?

@vanessa @smokey @crossingthethreshold @rosemaryorchard

Thankyou all for the various ideas ... been quiet because I ended up accessing both recommendations .... as two week trials ... I started with I thoughts and created a couple real quick ..... very intuitive and quick and ... and perfect ... except not so intuitive for formatting the maps or nodes or connectors.

The panel to modify didn’t really even seem that intuitive ... and for the life of me ... something like copy style of this node and paste to that node ... not found ... so I popped over to MindNode.

Interesting that MindNode just opened the two maps created on ithoughts just like that ... behavior in building maps is pretty much identical ... but styling of the maps ...mind node seems to have it down .. including the copy and paste style ....

And then set app ... there is ithoughts ... but no MindNode.

Then I discovered that the ithoughts developer is operating in my old home town ... YORK .. England ... so I really want to support him .. all else being equal .. we will see. Testing continues.

That said .. setapp ... I already have Ulysses, Bartender, BusyCal etc .... so do want to move there ... I think I just might .... tho ....

I pay for feedly ... maybe I can move over to cappuccino? .. and gosh darn ... just bought a year of Ulysses ... but there just might be value in a couple of others to make it worth while and when Ulysses comes up for renewal... well no worries .... and when other apps update ... I’m covered...

Anyone have any thoughts of great apps buried in setapp that I haven’t spotted yet.

@rosemaryorchard thankyou ... ‘couldn’t see for looking’ as they say in the old country ... wouldn’t it be helpful if they had some kind of order to the list of apps they offer .... and maybe even better categorization

@JohnPhilpin MindNode shows in the Setapp listings on their website, in a number of categories. I didn’t know iThoughts was a York enterprise. Close to my hometown!
