@pdxmph This makes totally sense. I bought the 13 mini last year, just about a week before the 14 launched, and I haven’t regretted it, (coming from a 11 Pro). Agree on the Apple Watch too, I’m currently wearing a Citizen solar powered watch, and it’s so good to not having to charge every day, or at all, really. I’m not keeping track of my steps anymore (I know I don’t walk nearly enough anyway). I’m a bit curious about the iPad mini, as so many I’ve seen written about how they love this device, but I think I’ll have to wait and see if my iPhone mini can do for reading on the go as well. What sort of flip phone do you have?

@pdxmph @odd Great takes. I basically despise my Apple Watch. What I’ve wanted for years is simply a smart band that does what your Garmin does that I can fit cleanly onto my Seiko. I do not need a screen on my wrist for any reason. I just want a heart rate monitor, steps counter, and GPS. I’m actually surprised one of the larger manufacturers hasn’t created this product yet.

@JohnPhilpin Fitbit had just a regular nato- like smart band that could fit onto any automatic analog watch?

@pdxmph i’m with you on the iPad Mini. I’ve had every size of iPad and the mini 6 is the only one I continue to use frequently. It’s the perfect size for reading and the weight distribution in hand is great for sketching and typing. it’s also a hidden gem for gaming if you pair with a switch or ps5 controller.

@pdxmph Thanks! The page says “The F1 does not include the 3G (UMTS) or 4G (LTE) bands required for use in Europe, Asia, and Africa.”. I was under the impression that 2G (GPRS(?)) also works (in Norway at least). I think they have shut down 3G here now, and that there is 2G, (for compatibility), 4G and (some) 5G available right now. I’m not sure if I need another phone, but this seems like a good lo-fi choice.

@pdxmph @odd this piqued my curiosity but sold out in Europe www.thelightphone.com - I’ve an iPhone 12 Pro that I love but it’s just too darn heavy and I use it too much. Hoping next round of phones will be lighter.

@sim0ne yeah I use the camera a LOT so would miss that also. It’s so close to new Phone announcements (usually Sept?) that I’d be foolish not to wait to see if there’s a weight change.

@pdxmph I think 50/50 is too generous. I'd guess more like 20/80. Also good advice about the Light Phone. I have the II and it's very frustrating. It went in a drawer after 2 days of novelty. // @alpower

@alpower September 12 is what I’ve read. (Based on previous years and statistics). There might be a 15 mini, although I think it might not come until the 16 is due. (Sept. ‘24).
