@numericcitizen Might I suggest a 4th action?

Replace 'content' with a more meaningful word that reveals your work to have value and not some homogenous nothingness.

I've been banging on about this for years - but interesting to hear Will Arnett talking about this exact problem on a recent Smartless podcast

@JohnPhilpin Maybe, just maybe, I don’t want to call myself… a writer. #impostorsyndrome

@numericcitizen i always tell people that I play the guitar - but I am not a guitarist. Writing has the same challenge. I don’t make my living out of writing - but I - and you both write - there is no getting away from that. All I am saying that what we write is not content.

@JohnPhilpin @numericcitizen I am someone who does make my living from writing, and I two things I’ve found are true: 1) real writers = people who write. Words. Any format. Any amount. Paid or not. And 2) I’ve never met a writer who doesn’t feel like an imposter. 😂

@Annie @JohnPhilpin Good to know! I'm feeling a bit better now. One thing that might partly explain my feelings: my mother language is French, not English. You can imagine that calling myself an English writer makes me uneasy. Oh, and Nice to meet you! 🙂

@numericcitizen 1) I've always thought of you as a writer, and 2) had no idea English was not your first language! Claim the title you've already earned 🙂

@numericcitizen what @annahavron said … I had no idea .. also just to ‘pick a couple’ Hugo, Sartre and Camus were writers and French, despite what we might think across the channel .. it is possible to be a writer and not even speak English. Keep it up .. what did they say about dogs on the internet?
