Passing by the Vegemite factory on the way to work. You usually get a whiff of its signature smell when you walk by, but today it was particularly strong.

@lmika is that a good thing or a bad thing?

@JohnPhilpin I'm in the camp of saying that it's not a good thing, although I sure others would disagree. 😀

@lmika a York, England resident for many years which is home to Rowntrees Chocolate .. now Nestle .. back in the day on a bad day the smell was sufficiently bad to put you off chocolate for life - heaven only knows I would cope with Marmite.

@JohnPhilpin Oof, not sure I like the prospect of being put off chocolate just from the smell. Would probably miss it too much. 😀

Fortunately you have to be quite close to the Vegemite factory to smell it. My office is about 100 metres away and you can't smell it at all there.

@lmika with the wind in the 'right' direction York used to suffer.

As a side note as a student I had many jobs - one was cleaning out the 'smarty shiner bins' another was as a garbage collector for a local council ...

My mum used to say that when I worked at Rowntrees I came home dirtier than when I worked at the council!
