I have been using Matter for the last couple of days. I don't see the benefit yet, other than a different way of doing the same? Why and when should I use this reader app?

@amit I’ve found the reading interface and the audio of text much better than Instapaper, to be honest. I prefer the usability (and folders) of Instapaper, but prefer reading in Matter.
@amit I have used Matter for some time now and I really enjoy its interface. To me, as an aspiring note taker, the main pros are the highlights and the ability to export what I note as markdown for later feeding info into Logseq or Obsidian.
@vasta Yes, the audio of the text is helpful. I haven't gotten used to the interface yet. I am comfortable with my experience of everything in Reeder, including my feeds and Pocket list. Maybe I need to give Matter more time -- the promise of feeds, read-later and subscriptions in one is appealing.
@danielsantos Interesting, thank you! I haven't even explored the highlights & export part yet. Any idea if these highlights can be fed to Readwise?
@amit I’m not a Readwise user myself but, yes, highlight can be exported there. From their blog:
> As before, you can sync your highlights & notes directly to Notion, Roam, Obsidian, or Readwise on an ongoing basis. Now, you can also export highlights & notes from individual articles on a 1-off basis.
@amit also, their updates feed can give you deeper insights on the feature release. They’re quite active… and innovative.
@danielsantos readwise does all of that … very good
@amit
@JohnPhilpin I’d love to use Readwise. Thing is, as a Brazilian, that’s prohibitive for me due to the dollar exchange fluctuations we are subject to. I guess Matter was the closest I could find. Besides Readwise it connects to Logseq and other km tools…
