@JohnPhilpin Yes, indeed, I might. Do you know how I would go about viewing it?

I spent an hour or two on a much longer reply to your message, with links to a podcast and a book. But I took a break to do something else and when I came back my draft was gone, kaput, extinquished, erased, uncreated. You would have enjoyed it. I'm sure I'll learn what I did wrong when I read Manton's book.

I must try to remain in the moment.

My mind has been far away in the south Pacific. I've been to Pitcairn myself, using my ham radio and Morse code. I arrived instantaneously on the magical radio frequency waves. Highly recommended, a much better way than the path Bligh and Christian took. 📻

@Ron

YouTube is your friend.

There's A Channel

And two movies

Get Away To Pitcairn - feature length documentary about smallest democracy on planet.

Take Me To Pitcairn - Full Documentary

... what I don’t quite understand is that both those links start you in the middle of the movie - but you can manually 'rewind'.

Enjoy.

@JohnPhilpin @Ron I clicked on one of the links and it began properly. Usually an adjusted playback position means YouTube have your position recorded and stored via your browser/app. (it's due to the cache, cookie, or some other oddly named part of the technology)

@JohnPhilpin I have already watched one of those two documentaries. And both are different from the film you were originally pointing to. When I just went to look at the two films at YouTube you pointed to I was led to yet another one there that was hosted by the great, great, great, great grandson of Fletcher Christian.

This all reminds me of when the great Sanskrit scholar at Cambridge University asked me whether I'd like to compile a bibliography of Bob Dylan books. He would help me. Being interested but naive, I agreed to take on the task, thinking there might be 50 books and I'd be done in a few weeks, having learned a lot about Internet tools from my brilliant Cambridge friend. Hah! I published my first listing decades ago with over 500 books, less than 1/2 of the books there would be on a more complete compilation.

In the past few days, on this new topic I have learned there have been five versions of Mutiny on the Bounty released in theaters, the first one (1935) was nominated for best actor Oscars for the three main actors in the film. They all lost to an actor in another film that year.

I've spent a lot of time in the South Pacific with my ham radio equipment. I've worked tons of islands around Pitcairn, as well as Pitcairn itself. More on some of my conclusions later. I'm running out of room. 📻

@Ron Isn't the first of the two links I sent the same movie and director as the link I originally sent?

@JohnPhilpin I didn't think so, but I wasn't super careful about comparing. Bottom line is that many have developed vids on the topic. I suspect some are hoping to derive income from them and that might even include some from Pitcairn itself. They used to make a nice income by making and selling stamps, but they would probably like to supplement or replace some of that income, as stamp collecting is not as popular now as it once was.

You're right, the Get Away video! I fell asleep when I took a look at the vid itself as it was the first of these in a non-English language. Being a parochial American I don't speak these European languages. I am only fluent in English and Morse code.
