Upgraded my M.b website to use more legible font sizes, colors, and rem/em units. Pretty sure nobody ever visits my site directly but if they do, they should have a nicer experience.

@gregmoore That looks great! I’ve spent some time doing the same sort of clean up with typography, but on an out-of-the box theme.
@gregmoore I promise I’ll visit before the year is done! Two visits in a year! Double what you were expecting now! 😂
@gregmoore Ummm… The contrast between text and background is not doing it for me on the phone, Greg. Or am I going blind?
No screenshots allowed in replies, unfortunately.
@miljko Thank you for taking the time to look and let me know. The text should be a high-contrast, dark grey (#333333 to be specific) on a white background. I wonder if the stylesheet is just taking time to set?
@miljko Hahaha, I know the problem now: I was talking about my Micro.blog site and you were looking my personal website. You are 100% correct that my personal site needs the same attention. I will be fixing the grey on white problem there soon. Again, thank you for taking the time to let me know.
@gregmoore Ah, no, it looks like it's because of dark mode! It looks fine on my Mac, and on the phone when I switch to light. Does your theme have separate dark/light mode settings?
@terrygrier Thanks! I made that page for myself for the times I can't think of what to listen to.
@gdp Thanks! I'm using Micro.blog's default Marfa theme and just making changes with plug-ins and a custom stylesheet. My #1 goal is keeping it compatible for the long term.
@gregmoore It's the opposite! Personal website looks fine (white text on dark background in Dark mode), Micro.blog is hard to read (#333333 text on dark gray background). Does you CSS have a dark mode color choice?
@gregmoore Oh, nice! The blue for the hover effect on the navigation menu is slick, especially with that background.
@gregmoore Thanks. Still carving at the stump. Lots to do left. Especially on mobile. But I take out tools and whittle a little from time to time. It will get there.
@pcora Thank you for taking a look 🙂 I love seeing the really cool sites people make here.
@gregmoore Ok, maybe try switching text color to something lighter in dark mode? Right now text color is the same but background changes from white to dark gray so you end up with gray on gray text when in dark mode.
@miljko You rock! I had created a conflict with the Marfa Dark Mode plug-in that kept the text dark when dark mode was turned on. It should be fixed now.
@gregmoore BTW I just visited it too. Love the nice clean and slightly larger font sizes. BTW love your photos page. Are you using the MB plugin for photos?
@pratik Yeah, I try to make it as inviting as I can. My photos page is using a plug-in that I just found named Photos page. All credit to @kottkrig for making it look good.
@gregmoore @kottkrig O wow! Now wondering if I can use this for the front page for my photo blog. I like the rounded corners too.
@terrygrier @gregmoore … agree on album list … agree on albums over random streams … thinking about the actual albums … certainly eclectic 😎
@gregmoore Back when I stepped away from social media for a while, yours was one of the few sites from this community I visited directly somewhat regularly. I always liked your design.
@JohnPhilpin Those are albums I've fallen in love with over my lifetime. I don't chase music just because it's new but there's so many new sounds to discover out there.
@JohnPhilpin I have been syncing and older ipod nano of late. Lovely to have a single serve device for just music. No messages or email to interupt the flow!
@mariovillalobos That's a big compliment, thank you very much. I hope I was entertaining.😂
@terrygrier I seriously considered doing something similar but decided to turn off notifications instead. 🤣
@pratik hmm… maybe it would be possible to create a shortcode that can be bundled with my plug-in. 🤔
That shortcode could then be combined with the Custom home page plug-in to render a photo-grid on the home page (or any other page).
@kottkrig, the shortcode would make it possible to embed with a post, right? I don't mind hardcoding it in my existing template as opposed to a shortcode since it's at a page level.
I just realized I'm already using your plugin on my main blog's photo page 🤦🏽♂️ although I don't know why it doesn't respect the margins as on the other pages. But yes, I've been trying to replicate that look, or rather the look on @gregmoore's photo page on my home page for the Photos Blog.
