I’m a fan of Experimental music, I just don’t think of it that way. For example, Astronomy Domine seems so tame today.

@JohnPhilpin Do you mean the Pink Floyd track, or the artist named by that? Listening to the latter now, and it’s not bad. 👨‍🚀

@JohnPhilpin Makes me think of the story of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Supposedly caused a riot the first performance. A year later, same venue, mostly the same audience, Stravinsky was hailed as a conquering hero, carried out on the shoulders of the crowds.

Or that's the story.

@odd btw … the image was a nod to the original Syd lyrics of the song.

@bennomatic we humans rarely like things until we know we are ‘meant’ to like them ... c/f the world famous violinist playing in the subway ... and similar stories.

@JohnPhilpin I like some PF, but not all of it, (caveat: I haven’t listened to all their music yet), and haven’t heard that track before. Putting on that next! 🎵✨🔭

@JohnPhilpin All the moons aligned reminds me of 3.rd Rock from the Sun. (TV show). Also, the planet of a movie or TV show where some teenagers are in a observatory or Planetarium and they make fun of the name. Was it Rebel without a Cause? 🧐

Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets is a great place to start to get your head around early Floyd and they are on tour in the UK at the moment. (The link takes you to their take of Astronomy Domine)

Lead vocal and guitar - Gary Kemp (Spandau Ballet), bass Guy Pratt - who was basically the replacement for Roger when he left and describes Gilmour as his main employer ... also the son in law of Rick Wright.

@odd ha - yes - but the image was carefully chosen to reflect the lyrics from Astronomy Domine (my bold) ...

Lime and limpid green, a second scene
Now fights between the blue you once knew
Floating down, the sound resounds
Around the icy waters underground
Jupiter and Saturn, Oberon, Miranda and Titania
Neptune, Titan, stars can frighten
