Awesome Chills gig on Friday night. One of my favourite NZ bands. Small extra highlight was dancing beside the Minister of Finance who I barely recognised wearing a black band tshirt from the merch stand and singing along to all the songs! 😊
@richText we’ve been lucky to not have had many COVID restrictions (our airport is pretty small; all international flights go into Auckland right now) but it still feels strange to be doing this stuff.
👍 🎼 reminds me … I need to promote a new kiwi band that I have just discovered … Maori meets ‘Thrash Metal’ (seriously!) … ‘Rock’ never plays them … but they have already got recognition and toured Europe and US .. second tour later this year … performing with NZ Symphony in a month!

@odd Alien Weaponry … I love the concept - what they re doing the guitars, the merging of the sounds and culture ... UNTIL they start doing the throat singing … and then they’ve lost me /..
that said - they are coming out with a second album in a couple of months - and they have become less strained and more refined - so fingers crossed for me.
May 22nd and May 29th for their performances with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra - how many thrash metal bands have sone that around the world.
@JohnPhilpin Thanks for the link! I just realized that I might not be into modern thrash metal, and I think I was hoping for more music of the South Pacific merged with some old school thrash metal, but like you, I really like the concept. I’ll definitely try their new album.
