@JohnBrady Derek Thompson, Everything is Television: “A spooky convergence is happening in media. Everything that is not already television is turning into television.” Meta says in court that Facebook is no longer a social medium but a platform for short-form videos. The whole thing is worth reading.
Note: I seem to be one of the only people who doesn’t like to listen to (or, increasingly, watch) podcasts. Just let me read the text, which will take me a few minutes for an hour-long podcast. But things are going in the other direction: less and less print content.

@JohnBrady I’m with you. I listen to a lot of podcasts while walking or working around the house, but I generally prefer transcript unless I expect tone of voice to matter.

@JohnBrady I’ve been thinking about this all week too, and I think I’ll read it aloud with my students next week, who’ll be taking in Amusing Ourselves to Death in the meanwhile.

@ablerism @ReaderJohn There’s a great section using the concept of an “attractor” in dynamics: “Complex systems often settle into recurring forms, if you give them enough time. Television seems to be the attractor of all media.”
