@JohnBrady I have stacks of letters from my high school best friend -- we wrote each other regularly during our college and early adulthood years. (She wasn't the only person I corresponded with, but the most regular.) A lovely practice.

@Annie My daughter-in-law has a lively correspondence, which I envy, with a circle of old-order Mennonite friends. We were talking about the decline in letter-writing and I said, Maybe I should start corresponding with the Mennonites. She said, Well, it's mostly the women who write letters. And they tend to stop when they get married. I decided "Old man seeks to correspond with young, single Mennonite women" would be very creepy, and dropped that idea.
