Just discovered why we’ve got so many wasps flying around the front of our house – they’re nesting in a stone wall. Will be leaving them in peace!

@thedimpause Yellowjackets. Annoying, aggressive creatures that will sting without provocation. They get worse and worse in the fall but then, happily, the whole nest except the queen dies during the winter.

@JMaxB Yes, Vespula vulgaris … useful predators for pest control though and I’d much rather they were nesting in a garden wall than our roof space, where we’ve had them before!
