I spoke too soon. The seven levels of hell that is Apple support continues. It has gotten soo bad at the moment that I am regularly loosing my head on the phone. I know I shouldn’t but it has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had.

@kaa I was an Apple partisan for years, back when Apple was the Plucky Underdog and using Apple stuff was kind of a statement against The Man. Then my iMac died and I had to shop for a new computer. I compared prices and thought, for a computer that costs three or four times what the competition offers, what am I actually getting? I haven't looked back.

@JMaxB soooo that is something I am currently investigating. Surprisingly my computer needs are very specific - and there alternatives, but alas I will likely need to compromise on things to get there.

@kaa yeah, i'm very much one of the laity when it comes to computers. Apart from a good browser (several to pick from), i really only need to be able to run maybe two apps (LibreOffice and MuseScore), so my computer needs aren't great. Others will need to be pickier.
