@SimonWoods Hmm, I've always read that as "a little bonus" for those using utilising the alt text... (If we're thinking of the same thing, that is.)

@Havn I was mostly referring to people who literally just have a joke and include none of the required information for the description.

Even when a joke is included and it's a good thing, I can only imagine that is a rare occasion. An inside joke between you, the write, and the reader making use of the technology to read that description without damaging the integrity of the feature? Many good writers would fail to thread that needle.

Oh - yeah, this is absolutely problematic. 👆🏻

When I write alt text, I usually do the thing where I think of it like explaining the image (in the context) to someone I'm on the phone with. And sometimes, if it feels natural, I might add some details that's not mentioned in the post - like specifications of something, or model names. Not sure I've tried jokes, though!
