@Gabz I usually take 2 laptops (mac for fun and pc for work), an iPad Pro, and my Switch if I’m traveling for work. If you have precheck, TSA won’t blink an eye. If you don’t have precheck, then it’s just a lot to pull out of the bag
@maeganwilson\_ hm! I should definitely look into the precheck stuff. My manager also suggested it but I haven't gotten around doing it. I think carrying the two laptops is doable, I just need to make sure I can actually fit both of them nicely.
@Gabz If you can use the work laptop for some personal use, I'd recommend just traveling with an HDMI cable. Light-weight way to make the hotel TV useful again 😃
@kusters I hate my work computer 😅, Plus it's a pain everytime I need to connect it to a public wifi and the VPN and all that stuff.
@Gabz It's super nice if you're traveling alot! Also if the airport doesn't haven't precheck you usually still get to keep your shoes on, but you do still have to take stuff out of the bag.
Yeahh fitting it all in a bag is never fun.
@maeganwilson\_ Indeed! If I have to sacrifice an item, It'll probably be my personal computer. I probably will be playing a lot of Nintendo Switch anyways, I think. I have a pretty decent backlog. Plus, I am back into the Diablo 3 camp again for whatever reason and that's a lot of hours 😅
@Gabz i agree with @maeganwilson\_ precheck makes things so much easier. I do feel your pain though I am going to be traveling at the end of February and am having trouble figuring what to bring and what to pack it in. My aim is to not have to check a bag in.
@klandwehr @maeganwilson\_ yeah, trying to decide what tech I bring with me and what not to it's my pickle rihgt now. I will be checking a bag tho, since que company it's paying for it 😅. I could probably put one computer in that bag but I dont trust it. lol
@hjertnes so it's doable. I think it's more a matter of whether or not I can fit both nicely on my backpack
@Gabz my work laptop is a 13, and I refused to take it the time they tried to force a 15 on me...
@Gabz Does the Mac make it easier to connect to wi-fi and stuff?
Also, it took me a few years to understood the term "tom cat".
@simonwoods Touché, probably not the best argument. I think the reality is that I don't like using Windows as much and more so if it's on my work computer. I would much rather use my personal Mac if I can. I don't want to be browsing Netflix or Hulu and all these other stuff on my work computer, I might even feel like I am working instead of relaxing. Does that make sense? Keep things separate? // googling "tom cat"
@Gabz Yes! Keeping this separate makes perfect sense. I do it within apps; for example, a note app for a specific project. My work computer is my main personal computer so I can't separate those at this point.
I just wasn't sure if it was a technical issue, especially since our next computer is likely to be a Mac and so I've been collecting info on ways in which the Mac is supposed to be better.
