M.b family! How’s it going? Been a minute. This time of year becomes way too busy due to the holidays and wrapping things up before the end of the year. But enough about me 😊

What traditions or rituals do you have as you close out the year? : aaronaiken.me

@aa I always do goal planning and I usually do some sort of retrospective blog post at the end of December. I clean up my budget and I order a printed version of my Day One journals for the year.

@aa Not a lot! Usually I try to reflect on the current year and see where I can improve upon. Not so much as making new-years resolutions but just a good checkpoint to reflect and “plan” Also this will be our first Christmas with our second child so we are thinking on starting new fam traditions, specially since the rest of the family its traveling and will be the first by ourselves too.

@chet with you on the retrospective writing and budget, great time of year for those. Have always been curious about the printed day one books. How many years have you done that?

@Gabz good for you guys keeping it simple this year! Especially with two kids, seems like a good way to handle the holidays.

@hollyhoneychurch nice!!!! Had a hot tub at a house I was “sitting” for a year (almost ten years ago at this point...geez time flies). LOVED using it. Turned into a daily thing. Very relaxing! Enjoy!!

@JMaxB The annual letter always seemed like a nice practice to get into. What topics/updates do you generally cover?

@aa I started journaling daily 1/1/16. So finishing my third year. Due to space constraints, I order two books each year: Jan 1 - Jun 30 and Jul 1 - Dec 31

@chet that’s awesome. All entries or filtered down? I imagine photos included as-well?

@aa all entries and I add a photo of the day to each one, so those are all in there.

@aa the only thing we tend to do happens on NYE: we make homemade pizzas and watch movies with friends and family. 😀

@aa EOY

I live in a home for people with different mental health issues, and most of us celebrate Christmas with a common dinner at Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Third Day of Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. I keep in touch electronically with family during Christmas. On New Year’s Eve I usually make resolutions, but last year I got inspired by someone on MB to make a “Things I’d like to accomplish during 2019-Bingo”. I’m sad to say no bingo, but I’ve checked off a number of things in the bingo. Else it’s most about being together with the other occupants and staff.

@odd this all sounds wonderful! I’m intrigued by the bingo concept. Plan to do that again for 2020?

@aa I might do that! It would have been nice to know how many that have done it before, actually got bingo. 🧐 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
