@Gabz I must be an cynical old fart because I just don't see the draw of Bate's posts. And yet he's frequently mentioned by people I enjoy, such as yourself. Why do I always read his posts, roll my eyes, and think "more platitudes and motivational poster speak"? I'm sure it's just me, so I feel guilty about this.
@jack Well, this is the first time I ever read any of his, and it probably came to me at the right time. Maybe the reason why it made such an impact in me? But I see what you are saying, it happens to me with other "bloggers". like the first few times I read something of the sorts I was like "wow" and now I, just like you, roll my eyes. ๐
@jack I agree, every single time I see a post of his I think itโs overrated mediocre stuff Iโve seen a million times before
@hjertnes @jeannie @jack this is fascinating to me, I personally had no idea who this guy is/was, I stumbled upon the post and I thought it was great. I mean it did click something with me. And yet, you guys seem to have a very different view. Maybe because as Jeannie said it is all something you all have heard before in many ways.
@hjertnes Oh no worries, I just found it interesting. It's interesting to see the different takes on the same subject. Does that make sense? The same way I could prise a movie I just watched and think it's the best thing ever but because of different experiences and or knowledge or whatever reasons, someone else can have a whole different view of the movie and think its crap
@Gabz Yeah totally. This is probably my philosophy degree speaking but I usually try to talk about if I like something or not rather than it being good or bad
@Gabz Believe it or not, I hesitated at least a little before responding. I started out cranky today so I wanted to get that off my chest. My intention was not to diminish your enjoyment of it, so I'm sorry if that's what happened. In fact, I could probably benefit from some of his advice, despite my negative first reaction :).
