@Gabz For simple journalling, when I get back on iPhone I'm going to try to use Drafts to replicate an app I used to have called Ipsum.

@simonwoods Drafts seems like the obvious choice for me, I use this app for everything. But for some reason I dont see Drafts as the place where everything lives in forever.

@Gabz Agreed! But if I wanted a permanent journal I would go with plain text and/or pen and paper. I don't think proprietary-based apps, or those that make exporting complicated is a good idea for anything permanent.

@simonwoods I really need to think about this. I am not sure that what I want it's a journal perse, more like a log. Let us be honest, this blog of mine is my journal. I think I want more a sort of log where I can enter a few points like I posted this and this, I did this thing at work, etc. And not too many details just short descriptions. Makes sense?

@Gabz Yep! I want the exact same thing and using Ipsum was great for just that. Super sad the dev wasn't able to continue with it. Will probably get my new phone in January or March and it'll be one of the first things I start testing with different apps.

@gr36 It seems very usefull for sure, just not for me, I couldnt get my head wrapped around it. I think I need sumething much simpler like Bear.

@Gabz I use Drafts for this sort of logging, but only as an entry point. I type in a line or two about whatever it is that I've done, then I have an action that prepends a timestamp to the line and appends the line to a text file for that day. If no text file for that day exists already, the action will create it.

That said, for anything I really want to keep and be sure that it will remain accessible for years, I use pen and paper. I just don't have confidence at this point that anything I put into an app/platform is going to be readily available even a few years from now.

@petebrown Hm, I could try somehting like this. I mean, whatever I end up doingit will start on Drafts and then get moved to its final destination, whether that's Bear or (also been thinking) DEVONthink.

@Gabz Yeah, I have only ever viewed Drafts as a starting point for anything, never the final destination.
