@Gabz Agreed! Technology, as a hobby, is also a large piece of our culture and it's fun to look beyond the stuff that makes it into the news cycle or onto the hipster podcasts.
@simonwoods especially podcasts show, first the feed my FOMO and then I feel like they're, in some way, shaming me by not having the latest. Like you aren't part of the cool kids if you dont do or have this kind of thing
@Gabz I think that's definitely part of a larger problem with the news-based shows. I've become sensitive to people who assert that a period of three years is "a long time" or "years and years ago." I can no longer tolerate the 24-hour news cycle mentality, wherein you are rabid for information even though 90% is useless crap. I think it's especially bad in podcasting, since that medium is capable of having a much more considered and thoughtful approach to these things.
