It was a difficult decision, but I have deleted OmniFocus from my devices. I only have good things to say about it, but I am doubling down on org-mode, and for me having two systems in parallell was a distraction.

@helgeg what makes org-mode a better system ? This is not the first time I hear of it, I’m curious.

@Gabz For me, the way I can intermingle notes and action items, as well as code. I use it to track my work and learning (I am a programmer), so being able to execute code within the org-document is awesome. And in the end, it is all a plain text file. It is hard to do the system justice in a small message.

@Gabz Compared to OmniFocus org-mode is ugly, but it is sooooo extensible and full of functionality. One example: I also use it to track my weight in a table, then I can execute som gnuplot code within the org-mode document which generates a trend graph.

@helgeg Oh, I might be moving in a similar direction, coincidentally. I’ve used org-mode for notes for a while, but I’ve started using it properly for todos as well, and I am loving it. Haven’t quite taken the plunge in deleting OmniFocus yet, but I’m moving that way.

@bsag @helgeg I still use Things and sometimes Reminders for stuff I want to be notified about at specific times or locations, but otherwise it's all org-mode. There was a time I thought OmniFocus Perspectives were powerful but they got nothin' on Org and its Agenda. :)

@helgeg ha! this sounds interesting. For me, I am not a programmer and Omnifocus is already a little "complicated" and overpowered so my use is very simple (in other words Omni is very under used but it works). I can see how It would be useful but is not something I think I wanna go into. Or maybe Ill just check it out just to see.

@jack I’m just now learning how powerful the agenda is - amazing. That’s a good idea to use Reminders for the few tasks that are really time/place critical.

@Gabz Org-mode can be as simple or as complicated as you want. The biggest hurdle for non-techies is that it runs inside the Emacs text editor.
