@ChrisJWilson nice shot!
@ChrisJWilson I have never visited Krakow, but for me the black & white imagery, the railings in the foreground, and the solitary dark pigeon, all took me to straight to the city's darker, war time history. I don't know if that was an intention? I don't offer that as a judgement, just what came to my mind when I saw the photograph and caption. And it is a good shot.
@crossingthethreshold I don’t take it as negative criticism at all. I generally prefer colour photos but this one certainly felt right in black and white. You’d be surprised at how warm and pleasant this location actually is but I remember someone telling me that great street photos tell lies of omission.
@ChrisJWilson I like that phrase, "that great street photos tell lies of omission." It is one of those sentences that I feel as though I understand, and there are some meanings in there that I must reflect on.
@crossingthethreshold It's the sort of comment which I think has some truth in it, but isn't always true and is interesting to dwell on. I think there are a lot of good quotes like that in photography. Ideas which shouldn't always be taken as gospel truth but can point forward in interesting directions.
@ChrisJWilson Yes, that nails it. It had been botheriing me, but I believe that you have found the words. "...has some truth in it, but isn't always true and is interesting to dwell on...shouldn't always be taken as gospel truth but can point forward in interesting directions." Thank you.
