Why is my dream camera so expensive ? Maybe that’s what makes it a dream? An almost unattainable one…

@Gabz haha tell me about it! I would really really like to purchase either a 400mm lens, or to updgrade to the Sony A7r III...but I can’t get my wife to approve either purchase. What’s your dream camera?
@matpacker right now it’s the Leica Q. I’m sure if I plan it right and make a good case, my wife may agree to the purchase. But unlike other purchases I probably won’t be able to “expedite it” if you will. It’ll be a long process of saving money, sell all the gear I currently have and so on.
@Gabz that’s a lovely camera, fingers crossed you can get it past the accounts department! When I was travelling a lot with work, I was eyeing off a Leica, nearly bought it, but somehow ended up going down the Sony path.
@matpacker lets see! My problem is that I am very impulsive, and inpatient. If I can control myself and buy it when I have the money and it before, My CFO might approve 😅
@Gabz sooooo, I just had another chat with the CFO, and got it approved...mainly because I don’t have to get back surgery now, yay!
@matpacker BREAKING: CFO approved the purchase, although, there aren’t any funds at the moment. But ones I have acquired the funds I’ll be good to go! 😅
@Gabz Is 28 mm the kind of focal length you enjoy? I find the Q2 very tempting since it‘s now weather-sealed and the lens has always been amazing but this focal length is simply not something I enjoy using most of the time.
@mangochutney I was just thinking about that, that’s 28mm full frame I’m assuming, that’d be like half of that in micro four thirds, like 14mm or so?
@Gabz if my understanding of the micro 4/3 crop factor is correct, then yes. It’s fairly wide and while the very high resolution of the Q2 give you a lot of leeway in terms of cropping a picture, it doesn’t change characteristics of field of view and compression.
