@jeffperry This is my feeling free my friend!
@jeffperry There’s no spoon.
@pimoore Thinking about it, only because setting up ActivityPub on WordPress is beyond my scope.
@pimoore I just think that I need to just make my blog barebones, not worry about making sure every post is “gold” and just post things small or big regularly in one spot and micro.blog also has amazing outbound services to post things to mastodon, blusky, and more. So I think it wins. Plus it is just difficult enough where I don’t want to mess with theme all the time.
@pimoore exactly! I am strongly considering moving over once I set up the redirects I want (mainly past RSS feed URLs). I am also trying to decided how I want to deal with Mastodon. I have a social.lol account that is my main one as of now but the integration in mastodon here I think might be better since I can follow mastodon accounts here and not have to float between platforms. What do you do with Mastodon?
@numericcitizen @pimoore @jeffperry @JohnPhilpin yes, it is, as they say in the trades, quite nice, very flexible, rss-y-ness. Subscribe to only your bookmarks, to remind yourself of what you reminded yourself about! 🤣
@bkryer I like the bookmark thang … but I bookmark to remember to at and then unbookmark … but the bookmark remains in the RSS
@JohnPhilpin true, RSS functions as a rolling archive, or can. If I want to make sure folks see edits to a post, I’ll link to it in a fresh post, which requires some comment on my part, so I don’t always do it. And when someone pulls down my feed they can always ask for historical (unread) and get everything in there.
And if I find that I’ve just got way too excited (this is very rare;) and posted a lot of material directly in the app/web rather than first editing local and then publishing, well, I can just RSS a category of posts, and then pull the resulting stories into my text editor…you get it.
