@Gaby my dad used to write personal articles for a small local paper down south. That probably planted a seed for me. My initial blog started around 2002. None of those posts are live anywhere, but I still have the data.

@Gaby For me it feels like a natural extension of having a website, I’m not sure I could pinpoint anyone in particular. I used to follow a lot of the tech news sites and in turn their writers (like Christina Warren for example).

Funny you mention Tim Nahumck, I just finished rebuilding his site last week so I am very familiar with all his posts from making sure the import worked. Lots of good stuff in there.

@Gaby Biz Stone, Ev Williams and Jason Kottke. I’ve been blogging on and off since 2001.
I remember reading their blogs, specially Evhead, when blogger still belong to Pyra Labs.

@rknightuk did he move away from Wordpress? Did I link to the right blog? πŸ˜…

I wish he would write more often and same for Seth, he stopped writing years ago.

@Gaby The George W. Bush administration. I began by sending my angry thoughts to friends and family via email in 2004. A few friends asked me to cut it out, and I decided a blog was a better idea.πŸ˜†

@Gaby Most of the unique voices of the original blogs I followed were sadly consumed by Twitter.
RIP kung fu grippe
However, some have recently started to escape or never stopped doing their own thing.

@Gaby I was really big on Neopets as a preteen in the early 2000s, and a bunch of people I knew on there had their own blogs, so I started my own too πŸ˜‚ I guess that means I’ve been blogging since 2003ish, albeit with a big eight-year break between 2012–2020.
