How playable is Breath of the Wild without the official guide, I wonder. I’m just afraid of been lost in the game and having to depend of and external resource for guidance. Make sense?

@Gaby BOTW is amazing. I think the game works best when you just explore and get lost for a while. There is so much to discover. I am doing fine with a little Googling now and then when I get stuck on a shrine puzzle or something. It is easy to find walkthroughs of everything.
@Gaby When I first played it, I thought that I mistake, and much preferred Super Mario Odyssey. BOTW starts out hard and unforgiving. It starts you out with Link underpowered and overwhelmed by the environment. Exploration is scary, every weapon breaks, and Link dies a lot. I learned to avoid combat (you can run away from almost any fight) and how to collect, cook, and sell all the various items to make potions or to buy armor and arrows. That helped me move forward through the early stretches of the game. The game gets easier, but no less fun, once you solve enough shrines to boost Link's hearts and stamina.
@mjdescy oh good! I’ll give it a go and try to stick to it. I also have a few things against me though, like my attention span and a newborn and a two-year-old. Good thing the way the switch works you can leave it and continue where you left off. So if I stick with it it’s going to take me an eternity to finish probably
@Gaby I didn’t have the guide. There were a few points where I did a web search for help. But overall I just went at it.
I love the fact it is easy to pick up and put down the Switch and it’s games - to play as you can catch time. With a family I rarely have a large block of gaming time.
