@annahavron wow that’s impressive. I think I would struggle. I have totally fallen out of use for them though. Apart from the odd bit of research. Amazing, how they went from innovation to …whatever we call todays social mess.
@vincent same here. Not worried about ownership, just how society now vocalises what it really thinks. 99% is not good or morally correct.
@Munish Mine is gone-zo. I pretty much ruined my online reputation from rage tweeting so much during the Trump administration, so I deleted everything except LinkedIn some time ago. Musk would’ve driven me from Twitter anyway. He’s gross.
@Munish I deleted my original account (without even taking a backup — I mean, who needs a backup of their old tweets?) in 2018, then created a new account 2 years later. This time I might just stop posting but not delete the account, to keep a particular list in existence.
@Munish I was in the first couple thousand users of Twitter and deleted it back in 2010ish. Then I had another account I started in 2013 that I deleted about two years back.
@Munish I’ve gone radio silent over the last 2+ weeks. I follow a few accounts via RSS, but I’ve stopped cross posting or posting directly there. All my tweets are deleted after two weeks, so it’s a matter of time before I have a clear account. All bets are off on me staying there after that happens. I get more value here.
@Munish Keeping it for now. For one thing, local/state agencies have accounts there for timely information like road closings, fires, etc. And while I don’t like Musk’s takeover, I think it is a valuable platform, and I want to see what changes he brings. Ultimately, I want a de-centralized system, but the world doesn’t seem ready for that yet.
@Munish I’m a social media researcher, so I’m keeping my account to keep API access for data collection. I still follow a small handful of accounts via RSS, but I’ve deleted all my tweets except a “find me on my blog!” one.
@cliffordbeshers I am similar. Need it for school follow ups, customer service etc. amazing how the platform has changed.
@Munish me. Account locked with only a link to my omg.lol profile. Will not delete. Just leave there. Same way my Instagram has this links and a description that the account is abandoned.
@maique same but has its uses and helps with engaging support from companies or some research.
@UndamnedOne haha at least your are open and honest about it. Some people revert to, it’s my free speech and if I say it or read it in twitter, it must be real.
@skoobz agree with you. I find I get angry in twitter and this is a more trusted community. It’s odd how it and impact us do much.
@Munish Twitter has been that place where people tend to make hot takes just for the reaction. Here, I feel like I’m writing to share ideas. That’s a much different vibe for me.
@Munish Not impressive to my mind, so much as a necessary thing. I tracked my time for two weeks, and realized how much of that time was going to social media. Voilà, I saw why I felt so frazzled and “didn’t have time” to write. After that, it wasn’t so hard to delete them.
@Munish I’m in my 30-day cooling off period but fully intend to delete my 14-year-old Twitter account.
@Munish did final clean up on my reader/burner account and deleted my two my remaining bots. Deleted my main account in Sept ’19 when I came to micro.blog. I feel free
@agilelisa I wish I could delete mine. Need it for research and it seems to be the quickest way to get customer support from companies
