@Gaby Is there a feature or set of features you like about Hey? I’ve been able to duplicate much of the experience with Fastmail using mail rules. I always have an empty inbox due to this. All of this for half the price of Hey (or Sanebox).

@skoobz probably everything you were able to recreate with Fastmail and in sure I can do the same but that requires some tinkering and hey does it all by default (ish). And the user interface, I really like it, I really enjoy the their app or web app, Fastmail’s aren’t the most enjoyable environments. I think it all comes down to pure preference, I guess.

@Gaby If I had exactly one email address, hey would win for me. Unfortunately, I spread myself out onto free gmail accounts too long and with too much need for separate accounts that fastmail has my consolidation of all that management simplified at reasonable cost. I use hey for my newsletters since formatting of those looks great there and hey makes it easy to scroll on to each next one.

@timapple This is the same setup I have with it. I was big on SaneBox until I found Fastmail had good enough mail rules to keep my inbox clear. I also like that I can have those folders disappear when they’re empty. Plus having my domain attached is nice also. Not bad for $50/year.

@Gaby Yeah, I agree it is chore. But I am ok with it, I guess? Email is utilitarian, serves its purpose well. Sure, Hey was interesting. But the price was heavy too.

@pimoore @skoobz @jmaxb @timapple I am still a Fastmail sub, but I doont feel like creating rules and tinkering, What I liked about Hey was that it was pretty juch doing all the job for me from pretty much the get-go. But Damn, Fastmail is way cheaper, Maybe i need to stop being lazy and try to setup Fastmail properly and then find a good app to use it with, at least on iOS

@Gaby I used a tutorial to do all of this with Fastmail. Took me 20 minutes maybe?

@Gaby I’ve bounced between both. The only drawback to Mail.app with Fastmail is it’ll only check your folders once an hour, which isn’t a big deal most of the time. I keep the app handy in case I’m expecting a login code or something like it, since those always hit my “Screener” folder.
