Never have I ever spent 50 USD on gas on my current vehicle, until today. Yikes! 😬
@maique Gas is too cheap here. We’ve build our lives around cheap gas, to the planet’s detriment.
@mcg @gaby @maique I don’t have a car anymore, mainly because I don’t really need one, (public transport is very good in our city), but also because it’s too expensive. You can get a fairly reasonably priced used car here, (~$3000 for the cheapest functioning ones), but (mandatory and theft/damage)-insurance, mandatory vehicle control and vehicle fees* makes it very expensive. In addition to that, we pay around $8/gallon for gas.
We do produce a lot of oil, but the environmental fees baked in the gas prices makes them high.
*) Vehicle fee is a yearly fee for all vehicles (originally thought) to finance road building and maintenance
