Watching X-Men: Apocalypse reminds me why I don’t like the X-Men movie franchise. A fine series, but it’s not for me. That said, I’m excited about Marvel Studios’ future X-Men movies. Prior to Iron Man I didn’t think it was possible to pull off a decent live action adaptation.

@josephaleo sometimes it’s hard to like these movies, I do like some of them but definitely not for everyone.

@Gaby Before Iron Man I used to think the only decent movies about superheroes were ones not based on existing IP. Movies like The Incredibles or Dark Man. Because they weren’t adaptations, they weren’t saddled with all the expectations I had after decades of reading comic books. But Iron Man proved a decent adaptation is possible. Great, even. They cracked the code. Marvel Studios gets comic books and knows how to be innovative while still faithful to the source material.

Superman, Batman, X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc. all good movies. But they’re not for me. They always felt… off.
