@toddgrotenhuis As a person with past and present struggles with feelings, diagnosed as General Anxiety Disorder, (GAD), I have in the past felt persecuted, (in the most shallow way), but I have long ago dismissed those beliefs, and know they can be ascribed to a stressful period of my life, and triggers to my diagnosed disorder. The person you describe yourself as, and other white, relatively healthy people in the west, are just what I am too.

Have I regularly been beaten because of my beliefs? Have the state burned my Bible, refused me to gather with my fellow Christians? Do mobs set fire to our churches? - Certainly not.

If one reads the New Testament, believe it to be factual, and also see it as a successor to the Old Testament, and see Jesus as the bodily manifestation of God, then his teachings ought to outweigh any logic that goes against what he said.

Ever since you mentioned The Naked Anabaptist the first time, I’ve wanted to read it. I’ll send you my email address, maybe we can exchange thoughts sometime?

Thanks for writing this post. I hope many reads it.

@frostedechoes being a “convinced” Mennonite, I don’t have those stories in my direct ancestry, but I imagine you’ve heard some. Did your grandmother have a family copy of the Martyr’s Mirror even?
