Moving Away From Google: gannonnordberg.com
@gannonnordberg I didn’t know about the !bang. I’m in a flip flop state with services at the moment, but I lean towards what you have done.
@gannonnordberg Oh Man!! Why did I read this, now I am gonna go down a rabbit hole lol. I have been wanting to move away from Google but it’s so hard, or so I think. I have closed almost all my gmail accounts except for one, and most of my emails is now thru my iCloud emial
@gannonnordberg except for one Gmail account and Google Search (because it’s just better) I dumped Google circa 2013.
@odd it’s OK, I’m a fellow flip-flopper as well 😄 it’s good to test the waters to find out what features and services mesh well with our own interests.
@Gabz 🐰 I agree, it is hard. Google makes everything so convenient. iCloud mail is another option that is likely free (or cheap) in a service that a lot of people are using anyways.
As with most things, there’s a delicate balance between convenience and security
@AlanGMarz Nice! Glad to hear I picked a good email provider. I’ve been very happy with it so far. I actually think the web interface is pretty good – even allows for Gmail keyboard shortcuts so my fingers don’t have to learn something new!
@Munyard true, to me it’s easy, once I gave up Android and moved to iPhone (the iPhone 4 being my first Apple device) I had gradually over the years moved away from their services. I sit. Use any of their apps or services (google mail app, google maps, google photos, google drive..etc) only one gmail account that I have had since forever and als gradually I have been changing my email contact information to iCloud mail (my dot me account). So to me is not like I need to find replacements to specific services because I already have them. If that makes any sense.
