What’s the best way to add a rel=me link to a Micro.Blog hosted blog so that Mastodon can verify that I’m the owner of my blog? I thought I had set it up before but as I’m dusting off my old Mastodon.social account I’m not seeing a checkmark on my blog showing it as verified.

@DrOct The trick that some of us found out by trial-n-error is to remove the URL from your Mastodon profile. Add the rel=me link to your blog. Then re-add the URL to your Mastodon profile.

@DrOct @odd oops. Sorry. If you don’t have a custom Micro.blog theme, there’s a plug-in called Meta Tags where you can add it. Otherwise, you do need access to the underlying HTML for your site.

@DrOct @odd You can put it anywhere. If you want a visible link, you can have it in the content, menu, footer, etc. on the page you’re linking to from Mastodon. If you don’t want a visible link to Mastodon on that page, you can add it as a link element in the head. You can use the curiously named Meta tags plug-in for that (it should really be called the Head plug-in).

@sod Well, I installed the plugin and added the link, but… still not showing as verified on Mastodon, but I’ll try it again later and see if I can figure out what order to remove, add, etc. everything to get it to see it. (I assume it will check in the headers?).
