But he would have a great deal of national and international support if he and Congress took the step of defusing the current crisis by immediately halting US support of Israel and calling for a ceasefire. @samjc @kimberley

I was reading about why the U.S. vetoed the UN Security Council vote on the Gaza ceasefire. It apparently wanted to make the ceasefire conditional on Hamas releasing the hostages. Sounds fair to me.
