I think I’d rather post to micro.blog and have my posts cross-posted to Mastodon.

@timapple Any regrets? I’m on the cusp of doing the same.

@BenSouthwood @timapple I’d love to hear your thoughts as well. I’m looking at / considering to switching everything to micro.blog being the main host and just sharing to / pulling in from Mastodon and Bluesky (if possible).

@AndyNicolaides This is what I've been, happily, doing. Everything starts here, and gets shared elsewhere. I'm not pulling things, just keep an eye on Mastodon/Bluesky, and reply there if there's interaction. There is a LOT of that on Mastodon. @timapple @BenSouthwood

@AndyNicolaides @timapple It seems relatively straight forward and sensible really, I just don’t want to break anything.

@maique You’re sharing/cross-posting rather than going ‘all-in’ so to speak? Does anything put you off migrating fully from Mastodon and pulling their replies here?

@BenSouthwood Yes, that’s what I’m doing. I actually like Mastodon as a network, and I LOVE the Mastodon client I’m using (Mona).

I do get a lot more interaction there, even from people who are here, and I prefer dealing with that over there, with the cool app.

@maique Fair dos. I’ve not quite taken to Mastodon, but it’s great that it’s suiting you.

@BenSouthwood A lot of the people I’m following are from omg.lol, and Portuguese. Then there’s everyone from this community that’s also there. The aggregated group is quite nice.

@maique It’s great when you can block out anything that irritates. I’m finding a lot of politics and suchlike floating into my feed and would rather avoid all that. I love how geeky Micro.blog is, just a load of likeminded nerds being themselves.

@BenSouthwood Micro.blog is still my favorite place, but I've never had annoying issues on Mastodon (or Twitter for that matter). Blocking, muting, lists, there are a few ways to tailor the timeline into something that I can happily deal with.

@maique I’m now of the opinion that unfollowing someone doesn’t need an explanation, nor will I worry about upsetting them. Truth be told, chances are there is usually very little interaction anyway.

@BenSouthwood I'm doing as @maique is for the same reasons. I love using Mona and I also really like the diversity that comes from the much larger population of Mastodon. The micro.blog community is much smaller and the "likeminded" aspect of it is a negative for me. It's cozy here but the flipside is that it also sometimes feels like a gated subdivision. Mastodon feels like stepping into a forest ecosystem but is still a safe place.

Micro.blog is my starting point for publishing and sharing but my browsing and engagement is pretty evenly split but leans more towards Mastodon.

@Denny I wish I could use Mona to browse Micro.blog 😇

@Denny Cheers, I agree with all of that. I think it’s a matter of curating the space you want.

@timapple Cheers. You seem to have the same outlook as me, where likes/shares are more of a hindrance and irritation than help.
