@Denny I wonder if part of it is that the Apple ecosystem is so expansive that it’s almost impossible to cover so the general “indie” news sites and podcasts end up covering the slice of the Apple universe they’re personally invested in. So we end up hearing a lot about general geek stuff and things that tech writers and podcasters use, as opposed to what designers, scientists, architects, engineers, etc etc are using.

@jonathansick Yeah, you're probably correct there! I think there was a sort of journalistic professionalism 20 - 30 years ago as far as tech/Apple coverage. Magazines like MacWorld covered a broader array of software because they viewed it as their responsibility to do so. If they didn't have someone on staff with particular expertise I suspect that they would contract out... just a guess. But the point being, they at least covered the important design software that was previously considered important.
