Hm. Nothing really new with the “new” HomePod. It still doesn’t’ do anything more than before and still can’t be paired to the TV. Wonder why they re-released it.

@timapple yeah that's the problem. They're only really good for music. I'd jump on them if they even had the ability to pair with a TV via Bluetooth.

@timapple @Archimage I use my original Homepods as a stereo pair and they work great as TV speakers with even an older AppleTV HD. The difference there is that I have to open the control center before I watch something and tap to select the Homepods as the speakers. Only takes a few seconds so I don't mind. I believe that with the newer AppleTVs this setting is remebered and sticks permanently.

The sound is pretty fantastic when they are used for watching video. And of course they're excellent for music!

@Denny @timapple @Archimage I was dubious about the original HomePod, but after finding that I use my HomePod Minis every day I know that I’m going to purchase the new version.

@Denny @timapple I know that they can pair with AppleTV units, I have a TV that comes with AppleTV "built-in". It won't pair with a TV like that or just to route sound through it. Oh well.
