@becky That seems like a very reasonable argument in favor of the MacBook Air. I prefer an iMac for my primary machine, but before I bought my MacBook Pro 16", I used an old non-retina MacBook Air as my secondary machine, and it was adequately fast to run Xcode, so I'm sure the new one would have no difficulty, even without a fan to cope with the processor load of compiling Swift.

@becky I came to a similar conclusion, but I didn’t wait - I’ve ordered a MacBook Air M1. I feel good about it now I’ve seen some of the Geekbench benchmarks and read the AnandTech overview.

@becky Agreed on the iPad Pro taking over everything I want to do on a laptop except Xcode! FWIW, I ordered a 13" MBP, but that's more due to foolishly buying the early-2019 dud than it is enthusiasm for the M1.
