iPadOS has been out for five months now. I think the “desktop class browser” May have created as many issues as it fixed…maybe more.

@ChrisJWilson It's a classic example of Apple marketing that is a rage-inducing fallacy for anybody who needs to depend on it. It bothers me more than the trendy issues to do with Window management.

@simonwoods I remember noticing a few real benefits when it first came out (I can’t really remember what now, but some sites became usable!) but now I come across its limitations all the time. Regarding “Apple marketing” I wonder if they’ll say “a desktop class browser” again, that is clearly a sign that it’s a just marketing term like the vagueness of “retina” or some other name/approach. Before iOS 13, I heard many requests for a “desktop class browser” and found them to be quite unspecific.

@ChrisJWilson It genuinely feels like an update that was supposed to be much quieter but they decided to randomly throw a big marketing push behind it, including a significant slot in the keynote. Most concerning is that this happened after the newest iPads took a hit in the press because journalists couldn't use their browser-based CMS apps.
