Christians of mb. Favourite books on prayer?
@ChrisJWilson probably not exactly the types you prayer books you are thinking of, but:
1) Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals. I enjoy both the big hardback and the pocket edition. 2) To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings. I really liked a lot of the stuff my spouse shared from this.
@ChrisJWilson The Art of Prayer: an Orthodox Anthology. by Igumen Chariton. I was happily surprised to see that it's currently in print. Prayer books aren't on prayer, but the one I use daily is Orthodox Christian Prayers, pub. St Tikhon's Monastery.
@toddgrotenhuis you were right! Not what I was thinking but exactly why I was asking! Thank you, I’ll check if I can get either.
@JohnBrady I’d love to check out an orthodox prayer book. Thank you for the recommendations.
@ChrisJWilson For me, the only one repeatedly used and returned to is just The Oxford Book of Prayer, which I’m now reminded of and want to pull off the shelf
@ChrisJWilson more recent, but I read Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools by Tyler Staton last year and loved it.
@craigmcclellan I think I have a copy of that on kindle but haven’t read it yet. I got it when I was reading a lot of other books on prayer and felt like I need to read less and do more! I’ve heard good things though.
@tinyroofnail I thought you were referring to the book of common prayer at first but this looks really interesting.
@ChrisJWilson I have several books on prayer already.
And several versions of the Book of Common Prayer (because Anglican…ish).
