A question I have after WWDC. Does renaming it to iPadOS mean there will be iPad focused features every year now?

@ChrisJWilson you would imagine / hope so. It’d be a bit awkward if not.

@andynicolaides yeah, I can't imagine a keynote going "And for iPadOS...it's the same as iOS 👏" 🤨

@ChrisJWilson It's still just "iOS" in the code, or whatever the specific name it had beforehand. However, that could be temporary or at the very least they'll maintain that whilst using iPadOS as the marketing name and thus be forcing themselves to maintain iPad-focused updates on a regular basis.

@simonwoods agreed, and agreed...at least I hope so. It seems a bit like a stake in the ground. After all, ios 11 started the read difference between iPad and IPhone but they didn't change the name then.

@ChrisJWilson Yep, totally. Also, in many ways I think they see the iPad line as the replacement for the low-end Macbook; from the 9.7 through Mini, and both models of the Air you have a number of affordable options especially since the Air now has a bunch of ideas from the Pros. As such the software simply must be taken more seriously, otherwise Apple's claims about people leaving desktop Windows machines for iPad are just going to be laughable.
