I’m 90% sure reminders is all I need for task management…and yet here I am thinking about things 3 and omnifocus again.

@ChrisJWilson No matter what I try, I seem to always end up back on Things 3. I think the app is just so nicely done and so well integrated with all the OS features (shortcuts, keyboard, etc) it just draws me back time after time.
@philbowell I used Things for a while (6?) years ago and loved it. For, reasons?, I found myself back on Todoist and that stuck with me for a while. I've been so analog for a while but I can see that I need some more of the digital benefits at the moment (like reoccurring tasks and projects. Especially with annoying contractor business admin). I've never actually used Things on the Mac though 🫢
@ChrisJWilson It's worth a look. I've started using the import from Reminders function recently which has closed one of my points of friction with getting tasks from Teams messages into Things. Works well.
@philbowell my only real gripe with Things (a deal breaker) is the inability to mark recurring tasks complete early. They appear to have no interest in providing this and I can’t imagine why they favour their approach.
@BestofTimes I’ve complained about this on two separate occasions to them as well. Still nothing.
@BestofTimes ah, I’ve heard others with that problem. I fortunately don’t have repeating tasks of that nature.
@philbowell @ChrisJWilson Another enthusiastic thumbs up for Things here. It’s pretty to look at, simple on the surface, but has a lot of flexibility and power for how you might want to use it.
@ChrisJWilson I'm also a heavy Things user. I tried to switch everything over to Reminders about 6 months ago just to try. It didn't work well. There were still too many gaps in my system.
@KyleEssary that feels like my conclusion too. Reminders is great for lists of things (like books to read, links to share, shopping, present ideas etc) but it’s just not there for when life gets heavy. (Part of me still wonders if I could just clear it all out, set it up again etc. But I think things is just simpler.
