@bradenslen I'm sorry for your experience. I remember reading something about how Starbucks has overroasted beans so it's more bitter which makes you feel like its stronger and also want something to make it taste better...so you add syrups etc and they can charge more ($4)
@bradenslen And the iced coffee is bitter. We started buying cold brew bags from Brandless, $3 each. We get three glasses out of each bag. The final product is very smooth and quite delightful.
@bradenslen I’m another non-fan of Starbucks coffee, and by that I mean actual coffee not the sugared up stuff most people buy. I had a friend who worked as a barista at a Starbucks and she always said she thought Starbucks was single-handedly responsible for the rise in diabetes in the US. The carbs in most of their drinks, often consumed along with pastries, is really high.
@ChrisJWilson I need to find a couple of non-Starbucks coffee houses so I have a current basis to compare.
@paulcraig901 I've never tried cold brew bags. I'll have to try. I have bought premixed iced coffee at the grocery with mixed results.
@ronguest Somebody gave me a pound of ground Starbucks dark Italian Roast coffee and I thought it was pretty good - until I saw the price at the store. Too expensive for me.
One problem I had in the little Starbucks I went into was it was busy and background noisy enough to where I have to start lip reading. Those places make me and my old ears uncomfortable.
@bradenslen Premade iced coffee at the grocery store is usually nasty. There was one brand I did like called Stōk? The rest... garbage. The Brandless stuff is good. Not great. But passable.
@paulcraig901 I was in the store yesterday and walked past the now expanded selection of iced coffees but didn't look. I'll be back when it's not 12 degress F outside! :-) I only want hot things now. Stok sounds familier, that might be the one I liked.
