Another good example of how “the cloud” is just “someone else’s computer”, a Ghost.org user had their website deleted because they complained about dark pattern on Twitter.

@gr36 writer complained that Ghost auto-charges you if you add to many users after 7 days rather than preventing you from adding users you haven’t paid for. On Twitter CEO responds somewhat nasty. Then user gets email from CEO basically saying “sorry we didn’t work for you” and site was deleted.

@jsonbecker @gr36 I’m sure I’ve seen other cases of the CEO being quite childish but can’t think of any of the top of my head.

@ChrisJWilson @gr36 @jsonbecker Sometimes the web remembers well enough.

Yet another item added to my lists of reasons to never touch Ghost.

@gr36 @simonwoods my goodness. Does John just try to give people reasons not to use ghost! The business practice doesn’t seem that shady to me but just killing someone’s account because they dare say something negative is ridiculous. Also the fact that John could take such an action shows a poor company culture where no one can stop such a decision.

@gr36 That's definitely the best approach. Even if the source code does get messed up (which, sadly wouldn't surprise me given the involvement of O'Nolan) all of your stuff is unaffected and you can take the time you need to make any changes, should they be needed at all.

@ChrisJWilson It's no different than the likes of Uber as far as I'm concerned. I think his initial use of the open web community has been something of a shield against too close a critical eye, except for with those of us who see his overall actions as quite slimey.

I'm convinced he did little more than use the open web whilst it was convenient, then took the easy way out to continue being part of the same web-hosting ecosystem as any other average company.
