Authors @archimage @cheri what are yout thoughts about getting your own ISBN vs. buying Amazon’s or Imgram’s? Should authors buy their own ISBN numbers from Bowker?

@leeS If you publish your own books, under your own imprint, buy your own. If you use a publishing company, buy theirs. They can handle discounting your books, etc. and that's tied to ISBNs. My 2 cents. I use a publishing company, so I use theirs.

@leeS I recommend buying your own if you're self publishing. It provides consistency and permanency for your book's identity across all retailers and it can't be taken from you if your book is no longer with that distributor. It's also a handy method of demonstrating prior ownership if someone pirates your stuff and tries to pretend it's theirs.
